The girls and I took advantage of a free rental for Father's Day from Alder Creek Kayak & Canoe Company. In addition to their two Portland locations a third seasonal shop can be found at Brown's Ferry Park with access to the Tualatin River. Making its way down from the Coast Range the river drops elevation rapidly before nearly leveling off to the slow meandering waterway that finally reaches the Willamette River.
With a Bogen Super Clamp I mounted a tripod head and the camera near the bow, not initially intending on making a time lapse, rather just getting some interesting stills. Since I neglected to set the focus lock while we occupied the boat, the near infinity setting meant that the focal point was mostly behind us. I figured a time lapse would salvage my shoddy setup. :-P
I shot RAW (if I was going for time lapse I would have gone to jpeg and lowered the resolution to conserve memory card space) and the 8GB card filled up after about 500 shots (at 10sec intervals) and before we returned to the launch site. Images imported into LR, straightened, cropped and changed color and saturation setting for aged appearance. Jpegs exported and rendering was done in QT Pro.
