Remembering mothers
-
I've been fascinated by the space of this side of the family for a while, and hope to create more in this milieu in the future.
My mother is a hardworking freelance media professional. As I've grown up around her, I've observed her constantly struggle to balance life in the metropolitan. I wanted to speak about her restlessness as well as her deep-rooted love for her own mother, who lives in a city far away.
Even though I majorly direct fiction, I decided to create a non-fiction piece that speaks about this feeling in a nostalgic way. This experimental short is in Hindi/Punjabi, and depicts my perception of my mother's life in the metropolitan.
Shot this on a Canon 550D and a manual 50mm f2.8 lens, with the idea of not having any slow motion so as to concentrate more on the storytelling itself, which was part-predetermined.
I shot this in bits over a course of time. I've been impatient about the upload. Spent the whole of yesterday cutting this, and want it out of the system this morning.
