THE ECSTASY OF DAN LACEY documents a day in the life of the eccentric artist Dan Lacey, famous for his paintings of President Obama riding naked on a unicorn, his portraits of celebrities and politicians with pancakes on their heads, and the conservative Christian cartoon series Faithmouse. The film explores not only Lacey's art, but also his personal life: his struggle to pay the mortgage, his twelve-hour shifts at a factory job, and his tumultuous relationship with Christianity.
Film and soundtrack by Tom Grotewohl. Summer 2011.
