Pamela Ferguson (USA, Texas) and Edith Storch (Germany, Berlin) interviewed by Katrin Werner at the Shiatsu Loft Berlin, 2011.
Part 1: 'Introduction / awarness of addiction and dependency.'
No one day without a hit?
Does it control you or do you control your life?
Pamela and Edith are teaching and giving shiatsu since more than 20 years. They have been working with patients attending a clinic or private treatment due to substance misuse and other forms of dependency.
Shiatsu, literally meaning finger pressure, originated in Japan. It is used to relax and revitalise the mind and body by applying varying degrees of pressure to parts of the clothed body along meridians, the same as those used in acupuncture and certain pressure points or tsubos.
Shiatsu can form an effective part of the drug rehab process and other therapies. The essential principle is to reactivate the body's tendency towards balance and harmony, self-awarness of the patients about their body and the situation. Shiatsu can be self-administered (Do-in) or given to others as part of a treatment.
