Zacuto did an amazing job on their EVF. I have had a pre-production model for a few weeks now and am absolutely in love.

The monitor resolution is unbelievable. Such a small screen, yet the pixel count is crazy high!

The build quality is superb. I did a couple of drop tests on my own, and it's held up quite nicely. It truly feels like a professional piece of production equipment.

The focus assist function alone is worth the purchase of any version of the EVF, but you also get incredible monitor resolution, false color, audio meters (coming via firmware), zebras, uprez/scaling for 5D, and pixel to pixel zoom. I also have the SmallHD DP6, and I must say, it's an amazing monitor, however, in record mode, I find it easier to achieve accurate focus on the EVF.

The scaling is almost instantaneous when switched from preview to record mode (on the 5D and 60D). By the time you blink, it's back on. The fastest kid on the block in this category!

The pixel to pixel zoom is another great feature. I do wish however that this was enabled during record mode, because then, if in doubt, you could hit one of the 3 side function keys just to triple check focus, then pop back out immediately. Zacuto...add this function to the firmware update..please. :-)

The custom guildes is great, though I don't really see myself using that feature much, unless I'm using the 2:35 film guides and want to frame my end shot perfectly.

I can't wait for the audio meter addition via firmware! It can't come soon enough. :-)

Battery life is exactly what they state it is. I find myself not even changing the battery after a 10-hour day of shooting. It's so nice when a company states what battery life a customer should expect, and they actually get that.

The included bag, 90 degree angled HDMI cable, and cold shoe mount are all standard and come with every model. The bag is a nice material. I'm not a huge fan of the HDMI cable because that right angle just makes the connection bigger. The hot shoe swivel mount is also nice, though I don't really see myself shooting Hasselblad style, but the option is there if I need it.

All in all I'm soooooooo glad to have had a chance to play with this exceptional piece of gear. It's one that will definitely be added to my collection and used on my primary rigs. Mad props to Zacuto! Yes, it's a bit expensive, but it's really worth every penny in my book.
