"Water does not wash water" is a collective audio-visual performance by Cirrus, Jana, Liudmila Kartoshkina-Siewerski, VAV, and WasDeferenz.
The performance is woven from five audio-visual threads conjoined by one common element – water. As an open concept, 'water' is capable of designating as many meanings as one could imagine. It equally stands for life, energy, change, death, inertness, and destruction and by way of this complexity is able to unleash boundless creative possibilities for a real-time collaboration.
Inviting viewers into various interpretations of water, each artist retains her own artistic freedom by playing solo for 5-7 min. before being enmeshed into the waves of a group performance. Such a format allows for constructing a visual and acoustic ECHO space in which, emerging from sound, video wave moves from one artist to another, floating and circulating collectively in-between.
