Pauline and the Matches was part of the Pop Up Exhibitions and Events programme for Edinburgh Art Festival 2017.
A group of well-known, established, multi-media performance and sound artists, collectively known as Pauline and the Matches, created an interactive performance space and installation. The project is based on Heinrich Hoffman's cautionary tales, the allegory of which has exploded within contemporary culture. We hear how microscopic actions, when they become collective, have a global impact.
Whilst performing under anonymity, this collective look at how to navigate a world where an accumulation of seemingly innocent actions are loaded with enormous unintended consequences. The simplicity of this tale reveals something more complicated about the way catastrophizing our impact on the world has entered our psyche.
This is the final of a three part piece which was performed at Custom Lane.
