2003 L’Hydrophile (The Hydrophilic) (video installation)
«Under the sea, between corals and sandbanks, a white pelomorphe evolves to the liking of current. His hair, such the tentacles of an anemone, curls around its silhouette, giving him an organic and supernatural aspect.
This video accomplished in 2003 was especially revised for the exhibition Qui es-tu Peter? (Who are you Peter?) in the Cultural Center Louis Vuitton in Paris. The public is literally submerged in the blue flux, he is rocked together with this furry monster. The sound envelopes every spectator, giving him the ideal conditions of an artistic meditation.
Aquatic dream of a child or romantico-environmentalist projection, L'Hydrophile savours in time, in its curl. It is an elevation of the transitional, maternal object at the rank of fetish (loved being). Nicolas Julliard introduces in this work, one of the surgical modes of bound between the transitional object and the artwork.
The evolution almost choreographic of this extraordinary living being under the sea, questions the notion of time but also the borders between the real and the imaginary. The living being of the world of the childhood integrates perfectly into this natural very real environment.»
