There are currently 39 federally recognized tribes in the State of Oklahoma. Pooper’s work pulls from the inter-tribal imagery that she saw as a child growing up in Miami, Oklahoma, home of the Inter-Tribal Council of The Eastern Shawnee, Miami, Modoc, Ottawa, Peoria, Quapaw, Seneca-Cayuga, Shawnee, and Wyandotte tribes. Combining animation, music and the body, her performance is part storytelling, part persona, and part comedy. With songs ranging from “Buffalo” to “Ham Dance”, the work is a power pop solo spectacle enjoyed by audiences of all ages.
This performance took place in Gary Kachadourian's studio during TAF Open Studios February 2018.
Lucas Wrench created the "Jacuzzi" installation for which Pooper to sing and perform.
Special thanks to Kyle Bell for shooting the documentation.
