Learn about conducting a lab to induce a magnetic field in a metal object.Like the other videos from the February 19, 2011, “Physics: Nspires in Charge” workshop, this video is a hands-on, trial-and-error learning experience. You will learn the most if you bring your Nspire and work along with the other Dallas ISD physics teachers. Before you start the video, download Lab 12596 from the “Helpful Resources” link. Gather the materials and equipment, including your TI Nspire, Magnetic Field Sensor and Easy Link. As in the previous labs, you will collect and manipulate data on your Nspire. In this lab, students will use a strong permanent magnet to induce a magnetic field in a metal object. They will measure the magnitude and direction of the magnetic field around the permanent magnet and around the induced magnet.
