The GenderCool Project was inspired by the powerful, positive experience of one family. Jen and John are the parents of four, including a 13 year old daughter, Chazzie, who proudly identifies as transgender.
John and Jen's experience with Chazzie was so life changing that the family knew they had to join the national conversation around transgender kids in a way that wasn’t being done. There was a tsunami of misinformation about these children and the families raising them. This was in stark contrast to the deeply meaningful and positive experience hundreds of thousands of families continue to have across the country raising their dynamic, talented children.
Something had to be done, and Jen knew she needed the right mentor and friend to launch this movement. She found that in Gearah Goldstein. Gearah is a subject matter expert on diversity and inclusion, a wife, parent and proud transgender person. Together, they joined forces with five Champions (our young people) and their families to launch The GenderCool Project. In our wildest dreams, we couldn’t have imagined in two short years the impact this campaign turned movement has had. Our young people are building support and understanding in every corner of this country by showing the world Who they are as talented, driven young people. Their powerful message has now reached the boardroom as corporations are listening to their words and following their lead in order to best prepare for the NextGen workforce.
