2011 Salon Series at Lusher Summer Arts Intensive
The John Mahoney Big Band specializes in original compositions and arrangements by John Mahoney demonstrating the highest levels of performance and improvisational skill.
The John Mahoney Big Band has performed widely in New Orleans, including appearances at the Contemporary Arts Center’s “At the Solarium Series,” the 2000 IAJE Conference, and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival as well its primary performance venue–Snug Harbor, which is New Orleans’ premiere jazz club.
Positive Vibrations Foundation is a non-profit private operating foundation formed exclusively for charitable and educational purposes as defined by IRS section 501(c)(3). The mission of the Positive Vibrations Foundation is to create and encourage community through the development and preservation of the arts, music, culture and heritage. The Foundation promotes and underwrites music for progressive community festivals and events, supports music performance and industry education programs for youth, and provides the public with educational videos showcasing the musical artists and unique culture of the Gulf South.
Positive Vibrations presents the Mid-City Bayou Boogaloo Music & Arts Festival, the Bywater Mirliton Festival, and supports other community events with sponsorship of music. We provide fellowships to our Summer Arts through Culture Program as well as other youth-focused initiatives such as New Orleans Youth and Sound Experience (NOYSE) and Congo Kids.
