This 3-minute excerpt from Guys and Dolls features live music (strings, then piano and voice) and dialogue. With sound sources as scattered and varied as they are in live theater, I tend to approach these as audio productions with a visual component rather than the other way around. The camera work, while challenging, is essentially dictated by the action on stage. So audio is definitely the greater challenge, made even more difficult when actors don't project their voices, and by the hard, reflective surfaces of the stage. The 4-channel audio system used in this production, while more costly, was essential in capturing this performance--here featuring excellent work by the lead characters.
