The San Diego Sheriff's Department along with 33 other agencies took part in Operation Watchdog on June 22nd. They knocked on 1,012 doors where sex offenders were known to live. 61 were found to be out of compliance. 14 were arrested for violating parole or probation conditions. The searches also turned up pornography, marijuana and drug paraphernalia -- along with normally legal items many sex offenders aren't allowed to possess, like laptop computers, digital media, smart phones, alcohol and children's clothing and toys. There are about 4,000 sex offenders living in San Diego County.
