This sample is from the 2011 web-media project, WhoWeAm. The project looks at the world we’ve created through the dual lenses of culture and human nature. It features short films, released weekly on a number of sites, exploring a wide range of subjects including education, human rituals, or in this case, intuitive insight as it is represented in the human brain and as it relates to the challenge of building an economy based on innovation. I chose this sample because intuitive insight is the subject I’ve propose to address with the work proposed in the application. The previous three films in this series describe new research findings on the neural basis of intuitive insight, and cultural conflicts we in the US might have trying embrace such ideas. In this segment, I build a small sculpture to celebrate the brain’s ability to rapidly associate and thus make intuitive connections.
