The Spokane Hoopfest is the largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament in the world, with over 7,000 teams and over 200,000 spectators and participants. The entire downtown is closed off and turned into hundreds of basketball courts.
This unique overhead view is 360x3 loop of 3 main streets and some parking lots. The event itself is sprawled out over all the downtown streets, and even spills over into north Spokane across the Spokane River.
This view is just a tiny section of the event but it gives you an idea for the sheer size of the competition. The background is what ever was playing on the overhead speakers being piped throughout the event by a local radio station sponsor.
This scene was shot using a Canon SX-1 held high on top a 7 foot monopod raised high up in the air. I hope to make a longer video that uses shots from both the SX-1 and a Lumix GH-2.
