This was the very first episode of Living Ascension and it was a doozy. As fate would have it, the show was already set to debut October 2005 featuring a local football rivalry. Instead it became a documentary following Ascension Parish's response to Hurricane Katrina and its evacuees. Located 30 miles north of New Orleans, this small sleepy parish became the safe haven for those who were able to evacuate from New Orleans and a place to stay when they couldn't go back. Living Ascension's first show covered how an overnight influx of people affected a small community and it's response to it.
