I never get tired of visiting the Joshua Tree Retreat Center - I guess in part because it was here that the Native American flute first appeared in my mind’s eye. Now, some 35 albums later, I still am inspired by this place. The staff have always been kind to me, finding a place for me to stay on the shortest notice.
The center sits on 400 acres in the Mojave Desert on Highway 62 between the towns of Yucca Valley and Joshua Tree. Many of the buildings were design by Frank Lloyd Wright and his son, Lloyd Wright.
My friend and master craftsman, John Stillwell is nearby this place, making the magic wands that are his Native American style flutes.
Through the years, I have tried to capture the magic that is here. This video is a collection of images that I have made from 2007-2011.
