Brenda Lopez is a Dreamer, whose story we shared a couple of weeks ago. Brought to the U.S. from Mexico as a child by her mom, growing up was a struggle because of her lack of U.S. citizenship, which limited work and education opportunities. However, Brenda applied for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which allowed her to begin a path to follow her dreams and graduate as a dental assistant and work at Dientes. DACA expired yesterday, which means Brenda’s status is threatened.
The video on Brenda, who loves working for Dientes Community Dental Care, is being used by the Chief Executive Officer of Dientes, Laura Marcus, in Washington D.C. this month to help put a face to DACA recipients to members of Congress. Her hope is to convince enough lawmakers to pass a Clean Dream Act now so that people like Brenda can continue to follow her dreams. We are incredibly proud to be part of this effort.
