"Dull Red Heat" - 2006. (format 5:4). (pixels 720x576). (Original duration 00:19:36)
A candid view of the city in motion; its people and buildings merge into a montage of organic complexity which we are all a part of.
"On Tuesday afternoon I start my camera at Harbour town in the coffee shop with an image of people sitting outside then move around to look at all the retailing. it seems like a lot of hard work, this shopping, endless sorting of things and moving from store to store. One store manager is puzzled by my wearable camera and makes a smart comment. I catch a Cat bus into the city and try to think of a public toilet as i am busting. We pull into the railway station and i head up Forrest Place to the Barrack Street council toilets which are very quaint, a de-mountable shed with a lady behind a window as you go in. She is the Cleaner, so you can report any problems with the toilet to her. I use the urinal which was very clean and floor spotless. Some old fellow was at the hand basin and mirror trying to fix-up his quite shabby appearance. I move outside and see the lady behind the window reading a big book. Perhaps she is a Law student studding for exams. She gives a quick look at me as i pass." (Performance notes - Perth, Western Australia. 2006)
