The Holocaust was the genocide during the second World War in which 6 million people, predominantly European Jews, were systematically murdered by Adolf Hitler's Nazi regime. Whilst most of the captured were killed in Death Camps, hundreds of thousands of others were held prisoner and forced to carry out hard physical labour in Concentration Camps. Living in dire conditions and being over-worked brought death to many of these prisoners. Located in German-occupied Czechoslovakia, Terezín was one of these Concentration Camps.
