The final project for my motion graphics class. The goal was to choose a poem and interpret it into a 1-2 minute motion graphics piece. It couldn't show literal meaning. For example, if the poem was about apples, it shouldn't have an apple in it. The key was interpretation.
I chose Jabberwocky by Lewis Carrol. It has always been a personal favorite of mine. The poem also seemed very ideal for this project as there are endless possible interpretations of the poem.
My interpretation and intention was juxtaposing it against the media. In the background there is imagery taken from CNN and various other news channels. It's all about how the media has exploded into something huge, much larger than the original inventors of what led to modern day media could have ever imagined. Much like the big popularity of Lewis Carrolls poem Jabberwocky. It started as somewhat of a nonsense poem and has grown to cult popularity. There are now subtle references to it everywhere.
The ink references how the media spreads (mostly fear...). It starts as a small drop, but quickly turns clear water into dark, milky water that's hard to see through.
Needless to say there is a lot of intended symbolism in this piece.
