Jasper Power Project. Notice to proceed with the construction of the 96 MW Jasper Power Project was issued on 17 June 2013. Following an 18-month construction period, the plant started exporting early operating power almost two months ahead of schedule, achieving commercial operation on 17 December 2014. The project is based on a 20-year power purchase agreement with Eskom, the South African power utility. The project cost is approximately R2.3 billion ($260 million) and has generated 44 local permanent operational jobs.
