YouMedia Project for Teens

A Project for Teens presented by Chicago Public Library in partnership with the University of Chicago's Digital Youth Network with generous funding from the MacArthur Foundation through the Chicago Public Library Foundation

What is YouMedia?

It’s a revolutionary space for you to express your creativity by using digital tools to explore the words and ideas of the books housed in the Chicago Public Library. The result is the creation of your own digital artifacts, a category that includes original songs, logos, clothing, games, fanfiction, poetry, short films, documentaries, music videos and virtual worlds.

You’ll be getting inspiration from books and artist mentors who will give you the power to create your own interpretations of the words and ideas on the pages in a way that is meaningful in the 21st century. The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros will be our first book but there will be many more books to work with in the future, as this is only Phase I!
