A study of the End Times - Revelation PM
# 05 - The Church in Heaven 03/11/2018
Not from Genesis to Jude, have we ever seen so many details and been given such a close look at the throne room of God. And if it seems strange to us, it’s because heaven is a universe away, a kingdom, truly of a different culture, because it is holy.
Summons From The Lord (vs 1)
In vs 1, we’re told that Jesus invited John to come to heaven to see what the end times will look like. The word “hereafter” obviously means after something and since we’re going to find the church in heaven in this chapter, it must be referring to ‘after the church age’.
A “door” is “opened” and when that is used in the Bible, it is very interesting (Mark 1:10). It’s referring to an entrance to the spiritual world. God allows time and space to fold so angels and the saved can leave earth and not have to travel light years to be in heaven nor do they have to travel that far to be here. Paul talked about that when he mentioned the third heaven.
John Sees The Glory of God’s Throne (vs 2-3)
Others had seen God’s throne: Isaiah, Daniel, Ezekiel but none from so close. Jasper, Sardin and Emerald are mentioned and some think that these three stones represent holiness, wrath and mercy or they could be just three colors of many. Psalm 104:2 says that the Lord God is clothed in light.
If you think about it, God used colored light to make a rainbow to give Noah a sign of His mercy to the earth. God evidently likes light.
