This video came out of the work on my diploma thesis in 2006. The motions of various objects - a planet in binary star systems, pendulums, massive axes on an inclined plane, a tippe-top, and shopping carts - were simulated numerically by my professor Kuypers, and I used the data to animate the scenes with POV-Ray 3.6.
I did not use a 3D modeler to create the objects - it's all done in Scene Description Language code, including the detailed IKEA shopping cart! Total rendering time for all the sequences used in this video was about 15 days on an 1.6GHz Athlon.
