In January 2018, Yasmeen Godder studio held a conference titled MOVING COMMUNITIES celebrating three years of dance classes that brought together dance professionals and people living with Parkinson's disease. The conference invited participants to re-examine and experience anew the connection between thought and movement, dance and well being, and art as a transformative force in the community. It focused on different practices of teaching dance to people with Parkinson's, as well as on the exploration of new initiatives that connect creativity, body and community.
This video documentation shows a class that took place during the conference, and was special in that it was taught by people with Parkinson's disease, and focused on themes and exercises that were meaningful to them. They created the class with the assistance of one of the regular dance teachers who helped them turn their latent knowledge into an active one.
Co-led dance class was taught by: Guy Hugler - Ora Lev-Ron, Avi Elchadef -Ofir Najary, Meir Peretz-Shuli Enosh, Liora Bahar-Sigal Bergman, Gershon Mogilner-Anat Vaadia, Shuki Chaba-Yuli Kovbasnian
