WORKSHOP
INUJIMA
FILMED IN Autumn 2017, INUJIMA, SETOUCHI, Japan
For almost a decade, Kazuyo Sejima has been active in regenerating a sense of community on Inujima - one of the islands in the Seto inland sea, Japan. Sejima developed various precise interventions and repeated working with the landscape and on-site traditions by including residents, tourists, students, and visiting artists.
The captured workshop introduced the island's vegetation and its means to retain and create a lasting life between nature and human, art and inhabitants, tourism and existing. The film does not intend to document the workshop but rather encourage curiosity about how one stays and moves along the island, finding its uniqueness.
