A beautifully crafted animation designed and directed by Framestore Design Studio's Sharon Lock, written by Diarmid Scrimshaw of Inflammable Films, and produced by Magdalena Berglind.
We went back to basics and set up a shadow puppet theatre style shoot, filming separate characters and background elements on a large backlit screen. Then, through a very meticulous process, we composited the shot elements together, layering with coloured shot and found textures as well as live action components to create a nostalgic and visually stunning piece. Character designs were brought to life thanks to the brilliant skills of puppeteer Raven Kaliana, and the whole film sounds amazing thanks to Greg Marshall at Spool.
Reflection has been selected for screening at the California International Shorts Festival 2011 (CISF), Los Angeles, CA on 17th September, calshorts.com/, Dixie Film Festival 2011, Athens, GA 23rd-25th September, and the Bristol Festival of Puppetry, UK, 26th August- 4th September.
