The underground water conservation project at Bolivar park is just about completed. The environmental-friendly irrigation system will capture storm water flowing in nearby flood control channels.. filter and clean the water, and store the water underneath the parks in large underground reservoirs. The parks will then use that water for irrigation. This will save Lakewood on irrigation costs and at the same time, keep contaminated stormwater from flowing into Alamitos Bay in Long Beach. Here’s more on how it works.
