Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) is a violinist, composer and performer who calls his style "dred violin", a seamless blend of funk, hip-hop and classical music that produces a new and creative sonic vision. He is currently the foremost classical-urban ambassador who intimately engages the next generation and is garnering a widening international audience. Thanks to the Central District Forum for Arts & Ideas for introducing DBR to Seattle.
4CTV's program DBR and the Mission won a Silver Telly, the top honor of the 28th Annual competition. With a record 14,362 entries from all 50 states and around the world, this year was the most competitive in the long history of the Telly Awards. Less than 10% of entries are chosen as winners of a Silver Telly.
Founded in 1979, the Telly Awards is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs. A panel of over 40 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents.
