B-roll for media. NASA’s InSight mission to Mars launched from the central California coast on May 5, 2018. This was the first launch to another planet from the West Coast. It is expected to land on the plains of Mars on Nov. 26, 2018. InSight, which features a stationary lander and three primary science experiments, is the first mission to study the deep interior of Mars, as a way to understand how rocky worlds, including our own Earth and Moon, formed. So while InSight is a Mars mission, it’s much more than a Mars mission.
