As a kid growing up in Edinburg, VA Harry Murray fished the Shenandoah River thoroughly and gained a great knowledge of the natural foods the bass feed upon. He later started teaching these smallmouth bass fly fishing schools on the Shenandoah River to give anglers a thorough understanding of the Shenandoah River and the joys of fishing for smallmouth bass. He has written several books on fly fishing over the years including: Virginia Blue Ribbon Streams and Fly Fishing Techniques for Smallmouth Bass. Today, his son Jeff, conducts these schools starting with a slide show at Murray's Fly Shop in Edinburg, Virginia and then following up with an "on the stream" instruction on either the North or the South Fork of the Shenandoah River. Many anglers learn how to fly fish for bass in these schools and then use the same techniques on the large western trout streams and other places throughout the world.
