This is pretty awesome. As good as any green bike lane in the United States. I rode NJ's waterfront along the Hudson dozens of times since the late 1990s, but since birth of my son in 2015, haven't been back until now. I saw photos of Hoboken's Observer Bike Lane near completion and really wanted to get over and experience it but didn't have the opportunity.
I remember how horrible the traffic was here to continue on to Jersey City (back then there was not a Hudson Waterfront Greenway connection from the Hoboken Terminal to JC). The thing is if you asked me if you could ever install something this gorgeous and safe back then, I'd probably say no - this is why I am not a traffic engineer.
The green paint hexagon coating (thermoplast?) is very interesting. Don't know if I have ever seen it before, but it might be why 2 1/2 years later it all still seems vibrant and durable (I am assuming it has never been re-done.)
About the only criticism is the pedestrian area narrows toward Hoboken Terminal due to the train yard, but even though I was out midday with little bike/walk numbers, my guess is that many of those people who might walk here probably opt for the waterfront trail.
