I am very proud to present my first ever official music video!
The band is the very underrated Australian group and the finest purveyors of power pop in the land, The Wellingtons. I always say that it all about the songs and The Wellingtons is one of those rare bands that once you see them play live, they will get your toe tapping and you will be singing along in no time. They are always a joy to watch and they are such a fun band, playing songs with catchy pop hooks. More famous overseas than at home they regular tour overseas to Japan, USA and Europe. In early July 2011, they have just released their third album, "In Transit" in Japan. This song will be the first single from this new release, a ripper of a song called "Keep Me Holding On".
Some details about the shoot. The video featured the band and some actors over a two day period over a weekend. The whole video was storyboarded with almost 60 different scenes by Zac and Kate. The basic premise for the music video was following the storyline of the song lyrics, set in a busy city office environment. A nerdy office girl who desires her macho co-worker but eventually falls for the nerdy guy.
All video footage was captured on two Canon EOS 7D digital cameras using a variety of different lens from a 10mm fisheye to a 200mm telephoto. All scenes were captured in the highest quality Blu-ray 1080p HD Video. Most scenes were shot from two different perpectives, with myself shooting the main shot and my assistant, Cera providing an alternative angle or a close up of one of the performers.
Approximately 615 different HD Video clips were captured over the two day period. The final edit is made up of 75 different cut scenes. Total duration is 3 minutes 31.24 seconds. HD Video is Blu-ray 1080p quality, with a frame size of 1920 x 1080 pixels with 24-bit colour at 25 frames per second. Audio is from the original master recording of 16-bit stereo uncompressed WAV file, at a sampling rate of 48 khz.
The editing was performed on my 27 inch iMac using the latest version of Final Cut Studio, in total collaboration with Zac & Kate from the band.
I found the whole process of making a music video such a great joy. The band and the actors were a total pleasure to work with and I am extremely happy that at the end of the day, the finished product is a enjoyable and watchable music video that reflects the fun feel of the song.
