Sheena Monk Hathcock has never been afraid to speak her mind. Which is a good thing, considering that she’s been waitressing for nine years at one of the most comfortable family-style restaurants in the Badin Lake area. The restaurant itself is a meeting place for people from all backgrounds and demographics. Sheena herself knows the kinds of different people that are drawn in because of its location: “You have the trailer park right down the road… then you’ve got the multimillion dollar homes right here at UWharrie point, but its cool that everybody can kind of meet here at the restaurant, everybody kind of vibes together.”
Best of all, Sheena knows everyone here at the restaurant. She interacts with many of the same people every day, and because of this, there is a closeness from daily to yearly personal experience that is hard to find at any other place in the area.
“You grow with people,” she says. And after growing up in this area and returning to raise her child here, she of all people would know best. In the end, it is a place where Sheena can fully be herself, no matter who that might be.
