"Blade Runner", 2009
VHS magnetic tape, video projection
edition of 3
Videotape removed from a VHS copy of Ridley Scott's Blade Runner forms a lattice of crisscrossed lines spreading across the exhibition space. A video animation is precisely aimed at these lines and appears to move along the tape, much as the head in the VCR would have done. The animations were inspired by the plot of the film: lightning-bolt lines, chaotic rhythms and a color palette close to the neon lights so present in the movie. The work alludes to the archaeology of media and the history of film.
