"Since 2010 I have had the honor of teaching music at Hudson Country Montessori School in Danbury CT. 'Peace in the World,' is one of the many songs that has come out our music program at HCMS."
As you watch this video consider, these are the words that came out of a generation of children ages 6 - 13. Take note of the lyric - "as one little boy... one little girl, watches the world," suggesting a deep sense of belonging and planetary responsibility.
In the first few weeks of music class 2010, students were playfully challenge to "Dream Big," as they wrote their personal wish list for "their" music class. Dreaming Big is a recurring theme, that to this day, remains an important part of the class. When we first started writing this song in late 2010 some of the younger children asked, "is this song going to be famous and recorded by a great producer?" The response I gave at the time was, "that may very well depend upon how Big you all can Dream." In late 2011, the international recording artist Leila along with smooth jazz artist and producer Funkeeboy, graciously came to HCMS and gave an interactive presentation to the students. One of the high points of the presentation was when Leila sang "Peace in the World." Later, in the spring of 2012, Leila approached me and producer Funkeyboy and said, "why don't we re-record 'Peace in the World' with other artists, much the way 'We are the World' was recorded… with students singing the hooks."
Peace in the World: In 2010 - 2011, 60 students collectively write lyrics to HCMS's original song "Peace in the World." Seven classes meet once a week and complete four original songs... this is one of those four songs.
