“Pillikud, with it’s deep Estonian roots, makes you dance and sing and hum the played melodies for days..”
Pillikud is a Estonian pop-folk band, that tries to find new ways to play folk melodies and lyrics. Using new instruments and new arrangements, Pillikud makes folk music sound like something what your grandfather doesn't plays next to a bonfire. Their vision is to make people dance and sing and have a nice time with them. They will teach you some lyrics in Estonian and some traditional Estonian dance moves. After the concert you'll think about folk music in a whole different way.
It's hard to call their music Folk, because that termin means different things in different countries, but they call it pop-folk or contemporary folk, because that's what it is. They use existing Estonian folk tunes to arrange them differently or compose completely new tunes on folk techniques, but changing almost everything else. They want to keep their roots with the music, because nowadays people don't use their traditions in music so much.
We can't wait to party with you!
