This is an edit I put together of footage I shot on the 2010 sardine run. The success of this trip felt like a huge personal achievement for me; I first traveled to the sardine run in 2004, as a tourist. It turned out to be a year blighted by terrible underwater visibility and although we had fantastic topside action, diving was near impossible. To return in 2010 and be lucky enough to shoot such fantastic action was a real privilege. The action got pretty frantic at stages, with a few bumps from some of the sharks that were also getting wrapped up in the action, but I was most concerned about the whales that were occasionally charging through the bait-balls, oftentimes with seemingly little regard for anything slow enough to get in their way.
All topside is Sony Z1, underwater Sony F900R in Amphiicam housing. There are couple of shots from GoPro HD also.
