Jane Jacobs Urban Wisdom (2003): Jane Jacobs, urban visionary, in a series of interviews, covers the highlights of her writing career. She also describes her way of developing innovative ideas; a web way of thinking.
Recalling the shape and civility of cities; the economies of cities; environmental considerations; education and credentialism, Jane Jacobs recorded these interview segments at her home in Toronto and at a series of public events during the "Jane Jacobs, Ideas That Matter" conference in Toronto in 1997. Videographer Donald Alexander worked with Ms Jacobs to provide an overview of her writing and community career. An urban theorist, Jane takes the opportunity to link her ideas with environmentalism, governance and activism. Donald Alexander used his library of video footage of a variety of cities to support the fascinating overview Jane provides of her sixty years of writing and ever evolving ideas. Editing and interview camera is by J Joseph Weadick. How Jane Jacobs approached her way of writing and the emergence of new ideas goes far beyond her description of the books she wrote.
