ARCH 100, University of Washington

Early conceptual rendering of a studio and gallery space for an artist and artisan. The space is shared by a photographer and a ceramics artist. The building includes studio space, classroom space, a darkroom, and living quarters.

The image at the front of the building is projected on a retractable fabric screen that also serves to filter sunlight. This screen could be used to display photos and movies for events, and can be seen from multiple vantage points on the roof and interior spaces. By using a somewhat sheer fabric, these projections would also make a large impact from the street.
