This is a short video showing the creative process I undertook to make a sculpture for Enniscorthy Town Council in Wexford, Ireland. The stone weighed about 4.5 tons before I started carving. It was a big undertaking. 'Am agus Spas' means 'Time and Space' in Gaelic. The work was meant to illustrate the passing of time, the eternal nature of the river and to show how all of human history, in time, fades into nothing. Nature is what endures, evolves and is constant despite our best efforts to control it.
