PLE's and digital literacies in action! Digital Storytelling (DS106) is the best course I have ever taken. Here are the highlights of this fast-moving summer course taught by Jim Groom, out of the University of Mary Washington. He welcomed non-credit students from all over the world turning the course into a MOOC - massive open online course.
This online course demonstrates a new pedagogy: the storification of instruction. The course itself turned into a story with twists and turns, professors going missing, Doctors banishing students, general mayhem and nearly complete spontanaity (within boundaries).
We had our own blogs, twitter and flikr accounts. The course has its own radio station, tv station and we were able to practice media production skills, social networking skills, reputation building skills, and celebrate open source remixing. Here is a Storify summary of week 1:
