A quick but comprehensive hands-on review of the SmallHD DP4 monitor, the new little buddy to the SmallHD DP6 monitor. I'm not at all affiliated with SmallHD and bought the monitor with my own cash after looking at all the options on the market.
PLEASE NOTE: footage of the monitor was captured via a video camera so the screen's picture appears pixelated at times in this video. In real life, the DP4's screen has NO obvious pixelation. The image is smooth and clear as a bell (in other words: the monitor's picture and color looks even BETTER in real life).
THOUGHTS: It's a lovely monitor all round, with heaps of potential for additional user settings thanks to its upgradable firmware. This monitor would be an excellent addition to your kit if you already own a DP6 (or another monitor), as it has HDMI pass-through. This monitor would be handy if you already own an EVF (as you could use it as your second monitor), or in addition to an optical viewfinder for run and gun work. The monitor is a great small size for mounting on a steadicam or slider.
