This is a visual tour of my final product for my Digital Media BFA Thesis at Maine College of Art titled "You Are Offline." Modeled in Maya 2018, textured with Adobe Photoshop and built in Unity 3D. Music by Jamie Hein created with Pro Tools 12.
I wanted to recreate my childhood home but through my own wobbly lens of dissociation with the intent that it could be explored by anyone and represent a literal interpretation of my dysphoria in the real space. As I have moved forward with the production of this piece, I’ve done my best to let my memory fill in the blanks. It was also my intention to steer clear of the intensely realistic style of modeling and texture wraps and to maintain a creepily pristine, faux-home space that sets the viewer on edge. This lack of personality leaves the player wanting to search for some tangible essence of “self” in the hundreds of models meticulously placed around, but I have stripped those away in line with many of my own memories.
Come see the installation in the Bob Crewe Gallery at Maine College of Art starting May 4th, 2018!
