Meet Gerald "Kunu" Dittmer, from the Ho-Chunk nation, who works as a prosthesist, and is the father of four and a lifelong Berliner. Kunu has always maintained strong connections to his indigenous relatives and large extended family on their reservation and across the USA. His home in Berlin is the historic meeting place of many Natives, both those who live here and who have visited in the past, such Dennis Banks. His story is one of the most poignant, as he detailed what it was like growing up in a country that so thoroughly idolizes stereotypical Native characters and misrepresented cultures, but just as thoroughly appropriates, dehumanizes and objectifies "Others".
