"Out of Work, Maria shares her life between two men: she goes to bed with one, then wakes up with the other.
Balance breaks when one morning, after the daylight-saving change time, Maria leaves for work one hour before."
My first “serious” short . Everything started 4 years ago when Juan P. and me, sharing a common creative interest, decided to screen one of his short stories inspired by the song "Cruz de Navajas" (Mecano) . Far from resembling the song story we wanted to convey certain feelings and sensations.
After a long 1 year pre-production in which the screenplay took shape and a careful casting was made, the filming took us another year.
The Film cut took a long time, but it was the music that took the most of it: as an anecdote, it can be told that there were two changes in composers. It all started with Kike and Ruben, then we passed to E. de La Vega, in the mean time, Juan P. himself tried something on the piano, and then we returned to Kike and Ruben, great musicians and great friends.
This shows how one can tell, more or less well shot stories, with practically no budget. In fact, the only big expense was 4 minutes of music that we bought from "The Gathering"; their songs began simply as samples of what I wanted the story to sound like ... but they ended binding the roots of the cut and becoming an essential part of the film.
The best thing: Mario y Maria is not just one story; it may be many different stories at the same time ..."
