For the weeks July 25 and August 1, Salaam Shalom: Report on Palestine Israel will continue its coverage of the fate of the 2nd Gaza Freedom Flotilla: Stay Human, with a report from Al Jazeera on the fate of the French vessel, Dignite/Al Karama, and a 30-minute documentary during the second half of the program on the history of the Gaza Freedom Flotilla campaigns, which features Huwaida Arraf, one of the founders of the International Solidarity Movement. The documentary, “Breaking the Blockade,” produced by Alternate Focus, is a stirring tribute to ISM and the courage of solidarity activists from around the world who have dedicated themselves to breaking the blockade and siege of Gaza since the summer of 2008. It is also an exploration of the activism and commitment of Ms. Arraf. An inspirational film. This edition of the show will feature a report from Al Jazeera on the efforts of Palestinian fisherman to ply their trade, with the help of human rights’ monitors, more than 3 nautical miles off the coast of Gaza, and who are denied that right, at great personal risk, by the Israeli Navy. We will also highlight reports from humanitarian and human rights organizations on the water crisis in Gaza and the systematic abuse of Palestinian children detained and interrogated by the Israeli military. Finally, there will be a video report on Israel’s new anti-boycott law, produced by the Real News Network, and a brief report from the network Russia Today on the annual conference of Christians United for Israel. Special thanks to Danny Weiss, our technical producer, Bill Coil, co-producer and distributor, and Jamie Brooks, VTJP webmaster.
