With this video I want to share a safety incident that took place during the second Swedish packrafting Roundup in 2017. The episode was a major reason to form the Swedish Packrafting Association for arrange the swedish roundup with more focus on safety.
Nothing really happened in terms that no one got hurt, but it was a close call. A large group of paddlers, myself included, was this close to paddle down a huge hidden waterfall. The waterfall wasn't visible from up river and we were not aware of its existence but luckily we decided to eddy out at the last possible eddy. At our exit point our view down river was blocked by a rocky hill which the river bends around. And furthermore the canyon-like cliffs made later river exits impossible. So had we continued just 25 meter longer we would likewise had been in big trouble.
